Abstract: Ultrathin films of titanium oxide gel that are imprinted with cholesterol were prepared on gold-coated quartz crystal microbalance (QCM) electrodes. Cholesterol used as template was removed from the gel films by washing with pure water and ethanol. Average frequency shifts against cholesterol binding were 9±3 Hz and 38±5 Hz respectively in reference and imprinted films. The imprinted film gave much larger frequency shifts than the reference film. This difference maybe shows that imprinted sites were precisely prepared in the TiO2 matrices.
