Abstract: Using Pb2+ as template molecule, vinyl chitosan (CS) as functional monomer and ethylene glycol climethacrylate(EGDMA) as cross-linker, a novel Pb2+ ion-imprinted polymers(IIPs) based on chitosan modified multi-walled carbon nanotube(MWNTs) was synthesized. Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (IR), thermogravimetric analyze (TG), and scanning electron microscopy (SEM) were used to characterize and analysis the composite structure. The results showed that the imprinted layer was grafted on the MWNTs with the average thickness of 15-20 nm. The adsorption experimental results showed that the IIPs have specific adsorption towards Pb2+. IIPs acted as enrichment material of solid phase extraction was successfully applied to separate and detect Pb2+ in waste water combined with atomic absorption spectroscopy with the recoveries ranging from 94. 8% to 101. 6%
