Abstract: Molecular imprinted polymers of doxycycline hydrochloride (DC) were synthesized via bulk polymerization route by using DC as the template molecule, methacrylic acid as the functional monomers, and ethylene dimethacrylate (EGDMA) as the crosslinker. Equilibrium binding experiments and Scatchard analysis were made to evaluate the binding characteristics and recognition mechanism of the DC molecular imprinted polymers in aqueous solution. Scatchard analysis showed that two classes of binding sites were produced in the polymer matrix within tested concentration range. The dissociation constant (Kd) and apparent maximum binding capacity (Qmax) for high affinity binding sites were Kd1 = 116.83 μmol L-1 and Qmax1 = 68.98 μmol g-1,and those for low affinity binding sites were Kd2 = 12.75 μmol L-1 and Qmax2 = 15.13 μmol g-1. At the same time, the imprinted polymers possessed good selective adsorption capacity for DC.
