Abstract: Monolithic molecularly imprinted polymers (mMIPs) for (+)-nilvadipine (NV) or (+)-naproxen (NP) have been prepared using N-carbobenzyloxy-L-tryptophan (Cbz-L-Trp) as a co-template molecule, 4-vinylpyridine as a functional monomer, ethylene glycol dimethacrylate as a cross-linker and toluene/1-dodecanol as a porogen. The molecular recognition abilities of the obtained mMIPs were evaluated by HPLC. The mMIPs prepared using only (+)-NV as a template molecular showed no molecular recognition ability, while the mMIP prepared using (+)-NV and Cbz-L-Trp as the template molecules showed good flow-through properties and molecular recognition abilities. Furthermore, the mMIP prepared using (+)-NP and Cbz-L-Trp as the template molecules showed good recognition abilities. These results suggest that the use of Cbz-L-Trp as a co-template molecule is effective for the preparation of mMIPs for (+)-NV and (+)-NP. (author abst.)
