Abstract: Molecular imprinting technique represents an attractive method for the selective separation technology. Because of the facile preparation and high stability, the molecularly imprinted polymers have been applied for the separation media of high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) and/or solid-phase extraction (SPE). In this technique, an organic solvent is usually used as polymerization solvent to dissolve the functional monomers and the template molecules. Therefore, the imprinting for such as water-soluble proteins is one of the most challenges. It is expected that protein imprinted polymers will be applied for protein separation, biosensors and development of biomedical diagnostics. In this study, we will report about new molecularly imprinted polymers for β-lactoglobulin prepared using a water-soluble cross-linking agent. (author abst.)
