Abstract: We prepared stimuli-responsive imprinted adsorbents. In this study we apply a sodium styrenesulfonate(NaSS) for a comonomer unit of the hydrogel in order to use the hydrogel adsorbents under acidic condition. Our preparation strategy of the imprinting hydrogel is the following two-step procedure. Firstly, we prepared poly(sodium acrylate)(PNaAAc)-PNaSS copolymer, which have two different functional groups and have binding ability in acidic solution because of slufonic acid group. And then, those hydrogels with metal ions as the template molecular was tightly fasten with a secondary gel-network of N-isopropylacrylamide (NIPAm). The hydrogel can adsorb heavy metal ions even in an acidic aqueous solution. Cu(II)-imprinted hydrogels exhibited a Cu(II) ion selectivity in
