Abstract: Molecular imprinting technique (MIT) has been widely applied in chromatographic separation, solid phase extraction, biomimetic sensor, enzymatic catalysis and membrane separation, etc. In recent years, molecularly imprinted electrochemical sensors (MIECS) have been receiving more and more attention. Combined with characteristic of electrochemical technique and MIT, MIECS offers significantly lower detection limits and low cost with the possibility of easy miniaturization. For the MIECS, molecularly imprinted sensing film must combine with transducer effectively in order to recognize and analyze the target molecules. So construction of appropriate molecularly imprinted sensing film systems is very important for the design of MIECS. In this paper, the detection principle and classification of MIECS have been introduced. The construction methods and characteristics of five kinds of sensing film systems, including traditional system, self-assembly system, molecularly imprinted polymer particles embedded system, electro-polymerized system and sol-gel system, were introduced and their applications were summarized. The prospects development of MIECS was viewed (64 references). (Analytical Abstracts 2010)
