Patent Title: Design and use of imprinted polymers, with specific affinity affecting controlled release of chemicals
Publication date: 2006
Publication number: GB2418428

Abstract: The presented invention describes an application of rationally designed molecularly imprinted polymers with prearranged affinity and their use for the controlled release of chemicals in situ. The first embodiment of this patent covers the design of these materials to obtain the properties required to allow a steady rate of release into the required medium. The second embodiment covers the use of these polymers as a medium for the release of chemicals into the environment. The third embodiment lists the potential applications of this technology. The preferred chemical to be released is the herbicide simazine and the preferred monomers are methacylic acid, ethylene glycoldimethacrylate and hydroxyethlmethacrylate.
