Abstract: The invention relates to the trapping of tree-radicals and discloses a solid phase support material in which a spin-trap compound or a conjugate of such a compound and a free radical is releasably immobilised. The solid phase support material may be a molecularly imprinted polymer. Further disclosed is a method of immobilising free radicals comprising the steps of: (i) treating a sample containing the free radicals with a spin-trap compound to form an adduct of the radical and the compound; and (ii) contacting the adduct-containing sample with a solid phase support material capable of releasably immobilising the adduct. Analytical methods involving trapping of free radicals are also disclosed as are methods of making molecularly imprinted polymers for the techniques of the invention
