Abstract: Molecular imprinting polymers (MIPs) are produced by using molecular imprinting technology (MIT), having specific analyte binding ability with its unique properties including chemothermal stability, re-usability, high selectivity, and good sensitivity. MIPs application to pesticide detection is an advance and superior scientific approach due to its trace level detection characterization as compare with other methods. In this review we have summarized the pesticide pre-treatment extraction with different types of molecular imprinted polymers for single and multi-pesticide detection by elaborating their specific extraction efficiency. Different polymerization methods, functional monomer and cross-linker importance are highlighted. The aim of this study is to explore the importance of MIPs application to pesticide detection and the recent advancement in the last few years to overcome the limitations of previously developed methods, existent restrictions and required future aspects are discussed
