Saving search pages as a URL, bookmark or favorite
Searching from these pages uses the POST method. This means that the search string is passed internally to the server, without attaching parameters to the URL. The latter is known as the GET method.
The scripts dealing with search strings can use both the POST and GET methods, so you can use parameters in the URL to re-run any searches you would like to check regularly
(you can add them as bookmarks or favorites). For searching the main database by name, the following URLs are equivalent:
For searching the patents database, substitute 'quicksearch2.php' with 'quicksearch4.php'.
The same form of URL can be used when searching keywords and templates by substituting 'quicksearch2.php' with 'quicksearch5.php' and 'quicksearch6.php' respectively.
Phrase search parameters are non-case specific, whereas name searches are case specific. Other parts of the URL such as the field names (Name, Initials and Phrase) are case specific.
Names and initials should not contain spaces (no spaces or periods between initials), however spaces can be part of a phrase. These should be substituted by '%20' or text after the space may be
ignored. For example:
Results are ordered by date in reverse chronological order, however the most recently added reference may not be at the top of the list. Bear this in mind if you are using a saved search to find
updates.
