Abstract: Diseases induced by high amount of cholesterol inside human body are increasing with raising of the standard of living. Researches in recent years revealed that cholesterol molecularly imprinted polymers presented remarkable selective recognition capabilities for cholesterol. Molecularly imprinted polymers as adsorbents used for extracting cholesterol from foods and treating diseases caused by cholesterol exhibit promising prospect. In this paper, the preparation methods, recognizing mechanisms, approaches of improving selective recognition capacities and developing novel imprinting ways of cholesterol molecularly imprinted polymers were reviewed
