Abstract: A method for improving permeability and working life of needle-type extraction device was developed.Filaments were packed longitudinally into stainless needle of 0.51 mm inner diameter. The polymers were prepared by using in situ polymerization with benzoic acid as the template molecule,4-vinyl pyridine( 4-VP) as functional monomer, ethylene glycol dimethacrylate( EDMA) as cross-linker,dodecanol and toluene as porogenic solvents, azobisisobutyronitrile( AIBN) as initiator. The monolithic device was coupled with gas chromatography( GC) to test the extraction performance for benzene, toluene, ethyl benzene and o-xylene( BTEX).The results showed that the 60 filaments packed extraction needle device had the advantages including effective extraction, good permeability, and even a good selectivity of BTEX from gasoline samples. The storage loss rate of BREX is stable within 20%,the service life of the needle can reach 60 times, the extraction effect is stable, and the relative standard deviation is between 2 % to 10 %.
