Abstract: Adsorption behavior of metal ions onto Co(II)-imprinted microspheres, which were prepared by our newly developed ''Surface Imprinting'' technique, was examined. Results of an adsorption test of Zn(II) onto the Co(II) -imprinted microsphere examined by the conventional method allowed the effect of Co(II)-imprinting to be discussed in connection with the structure of Co(II)-complex. Furthermore, the new experimental system showed that the Co(II)-imprinted microsphere adsorbed the Co(II) more effectively than did the unimprinted ones. The Co(II)-imprinting effect occurred because the imprinted structure was held on the surface of the microsphere by ''Surface Imprinting''; this imprinting effect was thus distinctly reflected in the adsorption behavior
