Abstract: Molecular imprinting offers a simple and general approach for the preparation of robust materials with applications in molecular recognition. In this approach, a target molecule serves as the template for the assembly of its own recognition sites; the resulting materials can selectively bind the templates with which they were prepared. Imprinted polymers show particular promise for difficult chromatographic separations and as 'antibody mimics' for assays of small molecules.
