Abstract: Objective To synthesize a molecularly imprinted polymer (MIP) with strong and specific adsorption ability for rhodamine B (RhB). Methods Rhodamine B imprinted polymer was synthesized using a precipitate polymerization method. The adsorption ability of the MIP was evaluated by the kinetic adsorption experiment, isothermal adsorption experiment, adsorption selectivity experiment and the adsorption ability of MIP to rhodamine B in juice sample. Results The imprinted factor of the molecularly imprinted polymer was 3 with acrylamide as functional monomer. It indicated from kinetic adsorption experiment that the MIP could reach a saturated adsorption within 15 min. The isothermal adsorption experiment showed the maximum adsorption was 170 µg/mg. The adsorption capacity of the MIP for some red pigments followed an order of rhodamine B > temptation red > erythrosine > amaranth > carmine. RhB-MIPs could adsorb for rhodamine B added to fruit juice well while the adsorption to other components was small. Conclusion The rhodamine B imprinted polymer shows a strong and specific adsorption ability for rhodamine B. It is a kind of potential solid phase extraction material for rhodamine B analysis.
