Abstract: Molecular imprinting is a technique that permits the synthesis of polymers containing specific recognition sites for a target molecule through the use of templates. This paper describes recent developments in the design and optimization of molecularly imprinted polymers, and their application as the recognition element in chemical or biomimetic sensors and assay systems. The work presented is mainly emanating from our own research group
