Abstract: Molecular imprinting is a technique for preparing recognition sites in synthetic polymer networks (Scheme 1). New methods are being developed for the fabrication of molecular imprinted thin film. These materials are being evaluated for the selective transport of complex organic molecules. Scheme 1 Key:(a) Pre-polymerization complex formation between template (I) with functional monomers (M); (b) Co-polymerization with an excess of crosslinking monomer; (c) Extraction of template from imprinted binding site; (d) Rebinding of template molecule to imprinted binding sites. Here we report the preparation of composite membranes of imprinted polymers for the selective transport and separation of neutral molecules by using a pseudo "dip-coating' technique. Preliminary results show high fluxes with moderate selectivity
