Abstract: Solid-phase extraction (SPE) is an attractive approach towards preparation of many kind of samples prior to their chromatographic analysis and highly selective sorbents; are required for this purpose. The objective of this review is to provide updated information about the most important features of the new SPE materials, their interaction mode and potential applications for the environmental, food and biological samples. New selective phases such as restricted access materials, immunosorbents and molecularly imprinted polymers are described. Selected examples illustrate the potential of these sorbents
