Abstract: An imprinted molecular nanophotocatalyst was synthesized by use of chitosan as polymer, epichlorohydrin as cross-linker, and atrazine as molecular template. The photocatalyst was identified by XRD, SEM, and FTIR techniques. UV-Vis diffuse reflectance spectroscopy and photoluminescence analysis were employed to study the optical property of the synthesized photocatalyst. The total organic carbon analysis, high performance liquid chromatography, and gas chromatography methods were used to evaluate the degradation efficiency and to identify the decomposition fragments. The Molecularly imprinted nanophotocatalyst exhibited much higher selectivity and efficiency compared to its non-imprinted counterpart for atrazine. Optimizing of affecting variables was performed by RSM and the results indicated that under optimized condition 80.29% of the pollutant was degraded
