Abstract: Hydrogel type molecularly imprinted polymer for creatinine was prepared with acrylic acid, acrylamide and ethylene glycol dimethacrylate by the precipitation polymerization in the mixed solvent of acrylonitrile/toluene (3/1 v/v). The particles were nano-sized and mesoporous. The sorption characters were investigated using creatinine, creatine, cytosine and 3-amino-1,2,4-triazole. The all species in MIP and NIP show monolayer adsorption following Langmuir isotherm, and homogenous affinity by the Scatchard analysis. Homogeneous affinity implied the sorption of MIP could take place at the specific cavities, and NIP could be adsorbed at the exposed functional groups and macro-cavities without distinction. The apparent selectivity of creatinine was 3 times higher to creatine, 2 times to cytosine, and 2.5 times to aminotriazole, respectively
