Abstract: Aminoantipyrine imprinted column was prepared by in situ polymerization in a 50 mm x 4.6 mm I.D. stainless steel column. Methacrylic acid (MAA), ethylene glycol dimethacrylate ( EDMA), 2,2'-azobisisobutyronitrile (AIBN) were used as the monomer, crosslinker and initiator, respectively. Dodecanol and toluene were used as porogen. Both organic and aqueous mobile phases were applied for the evaluation of the chromatographic character of the column, and the mechanism of molecular recognition was discussed. It was found that the imprinted column showed high selectivity towards aminoantipyrine in aqueous medium. Ionic and hydrophobic interactions were presumed as the reasons for the molecule recognition in aqueous medium. Under the optimum condition, the retention factor of aminoantipyrine could achieve 94.41. Rectangular pulse frontal analysis method was adopted to determine the single component absorption isotherms. In contrast with the retention factors gained from molecular imprinting polymers, the accordant results were obtained
