Abstract: Molecularly imprinted polymers (MIPs) are synthetic polymeric materials possessing specific cavities designed for a target molecule. By a mechanism of molecular recognition, MIPs are used as selective sorbents for solid-phase extraction of target analytes from complex matrices. The various parameters affecting extraction selectivity are discussed and the potential of MIPs as selective sorbents is reviewed through recent applications
