Abstract: Screen printing technology seems to be one of the most promising technologies allowing biosensors, the analytical devices based on the use of biological mediators, to be largely on the market in the next future. Amperometric or conductometric electrodes were printed on ceramic or polymeric substrates and coupled with screen printed layers of enzymes and polymers for obtaining biological or chemical sensors. The chances of mass, low cost production and reproducibility are critically reviewed through some examples studied and developed in ENEA laboratories.
