Abstract: (-)-Ephedrine imprinted polymers with high affinity were synthesized with redox initiation system at ambient temperature. The affinity and selectivity of the imprinted polymers were evaluated with equilibrium adsorption and HPLC experiments. Compared with the (-)-ephedrine imprinted polymers synthesized by photopolymerization, the polymers synthesized with the redox initiation system have larger surface area and higher affinity for the template molecules. These advantages benefit the application of the MIPs as selective extraction material. From a synthesis point of view, one of the significant advantages with redox system is the reaction environment is evener in the polymerization vessel compared with the light initiation method generally used. The redox initiation method is also good for the larger scale polymerization reaction
