Abstract: Molecular imprinting is a universal tool for the generation of artificial and robust recognition systems in the gas and liquid phases. Optical and mass-sensitive devices are suitable for trace analyses down to the ppb range. Imprinted polymers can be combined with pre-organized supramolecular hollows, which lead to further improvements in selectivity and sensitivity. (C) 1999 Elsevier Science B.V. All rights reserved
