Abstract: Phenolformaldehyde resins, which were partly doped with melamine, were etched with Cu-phthalocyaninetetrasulfonic acid complex. The "recognition" of this acid by the resin has been tested by taking adsorption isotherms by the aid of the progressive batch method and a spectrometer. The obtained etching has been proved to be esp. specific in relation to this tetra-acid compared to a monoacid. The information equation for the magnitude of the etching has been statistically derived. By the aid of this equation the magnitude of the etching has been calcd. from the graphically obtained data in natural information units.
