Abstract: Erythrocytes as templates can be used for patterning polymer surfaces (see the AFM image). Despite the flexibility of these cells, the imprints show a high selectivity for different blood groups, as revealed by sensor responses with the quartz crystal microbalance (see inset). Thus, the imprinting process creates selective synthetic antibodies for erythrocyte antigens.
Template and target information: erythrocytes, red blood cells
Author keywords: blood groups, molecular recognition, scanning probe microscopy, sensors, surface chemistry
