Abstract: The various kinds of column technologies discussed in the Pittcon 2006 conference are discussed. Bischoff Chromatography proudly demonstrated a novel system to optimize chromatography using mixed stationary phases. The kit consists of cartridge columns filled with five stationary phases. Evolved Nanomaterial Sciences introduced new chiral selectors that are bonded to particles to make chromatographic stationary phases for chromatography and solid phase extraction. Molecular imprinting (MIP) stationary phases are for solid phase extraction and this helps in the purification of compound materials with low diversity. GL Sciences featured a new high resolution column for hydrophilic interaction chromatography (HILIC). The HILIC phase has been used for the separation of small polysaccharides, water-soluble vitamins, etc. The development of new stationary phases for ion exchange separation is continuing and the main reason for it are ion chromatography and biotechnology
