Abstract: A molecular templated synthetic polymer membrane highly selective binding and transport for trimethoprim was prepared by a molecular imprinting technique, The selective binding characteristics of the template polymer membrane were evaluated by Scatchard analysis. The results show that a class of the same binding sites which could specially bind trimethoprim by the interaction of hydrogen bonding were formed in the template polymer membrane and its dissociation constant was estimated to be 4. 85 x 10(-2) mmol/L. The selective binding experiment for substrates indicated that the template polymer membrane gave higher affinity and selectivity for trimethoprim, The selective transport experiment for analytes indicated that there are paths in the template polymer membrane which matched the shape and functional group of trimethoprim and thus showed higher transport selectivity for trimethoprim
