Abstract: Recognition phenomena of sugars on membrane surfaces are especially important because sugars are essential constituents in living bodies not only as energy sources and architecture-forming materials, but also as participants in many essential biological processes including recognition and response to outer signals. We have succeeded in the construction of sensor chip which recognizes glycoprotein (ovalbumin) selectively. Since the sensor chip prepared by the simple incubation in a dithiolated phenylboronic acid solution could not distinguish any glycoproteins from other ones specifically, we have constructed the sensor chip using the molecular imprinting technique
