Abstract: The paper has analyzed the state of the art in the field of molecular-impregnated (matrix) polymer membranes, which are capable of selective molecular recognition of matter - the matrix. The paper quotes data on the characteristics and properties of matrix membranes obtained by means of phase inversion, polymerization in situ and surface modification of porous substrates. The article underlines the most promising application areas for impregnated membranes, in particular, for purification of aqueous solution of toxic pollutants, separation of biological active substances, and sensor systems. ® 2007 by Allerton Press, Inc
