Abstract: Molecularly imprinted polymers were prepared using S-naproxen as a template molecule, N-vinylpyrrolidone as a functional monomer and divinylbenzene as a crosslinker. By means of UV spectroscopy and computational approach, the interaction between template molecule and functional monomer was studied. The binding energy of the pre-polymerization was calculated by the use of PM3 method, which is -20.97 kJ/mol. The binding capacity of polymers revealed from adsorption isotherms decrease with the degree of cross-linking, whereas the experiments of selectivity show that the recognition properties of polymers increase with the degree of cross-linking.
