Abstract: A molecularly imprinted polymer was prepared using acrylamide as monomer, rhodamine B as template molecule and a large amount of ethyleneglycol dimethacrylate as the cross- linking agent. The bulk polymer obtained was investigated in equilibrium binding experiments to evaluate the molecular recognition and binding characteristics of the rhodamine B molecularly imprinted polymer.Scatchard analysis showed thattwo sites were produced in the polymermatrix and theirdissociation constants were calculated to be1 .87× 1 0 -5mol/L and4.2 4× 1 0 -4mol/L respectively. The substrate selectivity of im- printed polymer and non- imprinted polymer was investigated. The results showed that the imprinted polymer exhibited much higher affinity for rhodamine B among the tested compounds.Finally,fluores- cence spectra indicted the interaction between the template and binding sites in the polymer.
