Abstract: Molecular imprinting is a technique for producing highly selective polymers which can recognize a particular molecule. Polymers prepared by molecular imprinting have received much attention in recent years for separations, analysis, immunoassays, catalysis, enzyme mimics and biosensor. In this article, the principle of molecular imprinting is introduced and the methods that are newly developed for the preparation of molecularly imprinted polymers have been reviewed. The relative advantages and drawbacks of each method were discussed. The methods of choice in the future were given.
