Abstract: A surface molecular imprinting technique used for the production of protein recognitive materials is presented. Functional monomers were photopolymerized on a template mask with immunoglobulin immobilized in a specific molecular orientation. After polymerization, the molecularly imprinted materials were removed from the template mask, yielding a surface with memory for the template immunoglobulin. These materials were then tested for recognition of the desired molecule in a solution containing various competitive biomolecules. It was shown that the materials made with the surface imprinting technique were able to specifically recognize and bind the target molecule while rejecting other competing species. Easy preparation of the surface imprinted polymers, their high stability, and their selectivity toward biomacromoleeules make this technique promising in the application of biological assays and sensors, etc
