Abstract: Molecular imprinted polymer (MIP) of luteolin was prepared via heat-initiating polymerization with luteolin as the template molecule, acrylamide as the functional monomer and ethylene glycol dimethacrylate as the cross linking monomer. The selectivity of the prepared MIP for luteolin was studied by packing it in a solid-phase extraction column. The results reveal that the prepared MIP exhibits high selectivity and good recognition ability to luteolin but the blank polymer doesn't. Experiments of using the solid-phase extraction column packed with prepared MIP as solid-phase material to extract the luteolin from peanut shell extracts were conducted too. The sample was uploaded and then the column was cleaned up with ethanol-water (1:1, V/V) solution and the luteolin was eluted with ethanol-water (7:5, V/V) solution; such that the purity of luteolin could be increased from 1.6% to 94.1% and its recovery is about 90.0%. The solid-phase extraction column with prepared MIP as solid-phase material shows good stability and durability, and its recognition ability doesn't descend even if the luteolin-MIP filled column is used repeatedly for 4 times. The successful preparation of the MIP for luteolin provides an innovative opportunity for the development of the advanced luteolin separation materials and the novel material for selective enrichment and determination of trace luteolin in complex nature products
