Abstract: We will summarize recent results for the phase inversion method of preparing molecularly imprinted membranes. The technique is applied to membrane preparation from acrylonitrile-acrylic acid copolymers, which contain both acrylic acid (AA) residues as the functional site and acrylonitrile residues as the membrane formation site. A copolymer cast solution of dimethyl sulfoxide containing the template is coagulated in a poor solvent, water. It will be shown that the imprinting properties of the copolymer membrane depend on the template concentration in the cast solution, the AA content in the copolymer and the coagulation temperature. Evidence for interaction between the template and AA segments will be shown by characterization of the imprinted membranes
