Abstract: The ion imprinted polymer was synthesized with molecular imprinting technique. In this polymer, the template ion was lead ion and the functional monomer was methacrylate ester. The chemical structure was characterized by infrared spectrometry. The adsorption property and selectivity of lead ion imprinted polymer was studied by static equilibrium adsorption method. The results showed that compared with non-imprinted polymer, the imprinted polymer had better specific adsorption property and selectivity to lead ion. The specific adsorption capacity for lead was 0.766 mg/g. However, for other ions with similar properties to lead including cadmium, mercury, manganese, copper and zinc, the specific adsorption capacities were 0.055 mg/g, 0.061 mg/g, 0.059 mg/g, 0.037 mg/g and 0.003 mg/g, respectively. The distribution coefficient of lead in imprinted polymer was larger than that of other metal ions (about 22 times of cadmium). Therefore, this polymer could be used for the selective adsorption of trace lead from most coexisting metal ions
