Abstract: The generation 4.0 PAMAM dendrimer is used as a template for silica gels made from tetraethyl orthosilicate via the sol-gel method. X-ray diffraction and adsorption data show that quasi- spherical dendritic structures can be used as porogens, Used as templates, amine dendrimers are unique in that (I) they have the potential, depending upon dendrimer size, to produce mesopores and micropores with single molecules instead of micelles, and (II) spheroidal pores are the expected pore shape imprinted on inorganic solids
