Abstract: The controlled molecular imprinting and traditional molecular imprinting techniques were applied to produce two types of uniform-sized polymer particles with multi-dimensional and -points molecular recognition sites. The molecular recognition ability of these polymers was checked by HPLC with e.g. benzene, ethylbenzene, naphthalene and pyrene as analytes in size-exclusion mode, but however different elution patterns were observed. Spatial recognition by microstructures of the polymers was mainly observed, with some specific molecular recognition by the molecularly imprinted polymers obtained by the traditional technique.
