Abstract: The cited polymer, which has binding sites analogous to metal-chelate antibody, was synthesized by molecular imprinting technique with the Co(II)-diphenadione (diphacinone; I) complex as template, 4-vinylpyridine as functional monomer and ethylene glycol dimethacrylate as crosslinking monomer. Its characteristics of molecular recognition were studied by spectrophotometry (details given) and equilibrium binding experiments showed that the selective recognition of I by the polymer was markedly enhanced at the optimum concentration of Co(II) acetate as compared with two control polymers with same composition. The recognition mechanism and binding selectivity of the polymer were discussed. (Analytical Abstracts 1999)
