Abstract: Molecular imprinted polymer (MIP) microspheres with a diameter range 1-10 μm were synthesized by suspension polymerization using Sudan I as the template molecule. An on-line preconcentration and extraction flow-injection system using solid phase extraction (SPE) column packed with prepared MIP microspheres was set up. The column was mounted on the 8-way valve of the flow injection system, and eluted with a mixture of methanol and formic acid (2 : 1, by volume) after preconcentration. Sudan I in the eluent was oxidised by acidic potassium permanganate in the flow cell forming a chemiluminescent product. Under optimal conditions, the chemiluminescence intensity has a linear relationship with the concentration of Sudan I in the range of 1.0 × 10-6-7.0 × 10-4 g/L with a detection limit (3σ) of 3 × 10-7 g/L. The relative standard deviation was 2.0% for 1 × 10-5 g/L of Sudan I (n = 11). (Analytical Abstracts 2009)
