Abstract: In this study, molecularly imprinted polymer(MIP) nano-films for theophylline were prepared on the surface of silica microspheres through reversible addition-fragmentation chain transfer(RAFT) polymerization. The theophylline binding analysis showed that, compared with the control polymer nano-films hybridizing silica microspheres, the MIP nano-films hybridizing silica microspheres had higher affinity for theophylline.Utilizing the controllable nature of RAFT,we could control the growth of MIP nano-films on the silica microspheres. Thus it is possible to tailor the resulting microspheres to have high capacities by growing thicker MIP nano-films or higher binding efficiency by growing thinner MIP nano-films.
Template and target information: theophylline
