Abstract: We have recently demonstrated that poly(methacrylic acid) (PMAA) derivatives cross-linked in the presence of a template molecule show selective binding capacity to the molecule. To find out optimal conditions including the structure of the PMAA derivatives, it is currently necessary to synthesize and assess various polymers based on a trial-and-error strategy. In this study, we examined a protocol of molecular imprinting suitable for high-throughput screening of molecular-imprinting systems, which consists of immobilization of PMAA on the surface of Merrifield's resin, modification of the immobilized PMAA to bear functional groups for cross-links and molecular imprinting by cross-linking in the presence of a template molecule.
