Abstract: Problems occurred in the conventional methods of synthesis of molecular imprinting polymers(MIPs) are discussed. Recent progress on MIPs synthesis based on surface modification is introduced with emphasis on four methods: method with sacrificial silica-gel plate, method of hydrolytical polycondensation, method based on chemical vapor deposition and method of copolymerization. The application of MIPs in treatment of radioactive waste, capilary electrochromatography, HPLC and catalysis are also noted.
