Abstract: Magnetic Fe3O4@SiO2@CS cadmium ion-imprinted material (M-IIP) was prepared on the surface of Fe3O4 nanoparticles by using chitosan (CS) as monomer, and γ-glycidoxypropyltrimethoxysilane (GPTMS) as cross-linker. The imprinted material was characterized with scanning electron microscope (SEM) and infrared spectrum technique. The results indicated that the imprinted layer was grafted on the magnetic Fe3O4 surface, and a cubic morphological characteristics of M-IIP with edge length about 120 nm was observed. The M-IIP was employed successfully to extract Cd(II) from aqueous solution coupled with atomic absorption spectrometry (AAS) with the recoveries of 98%.
