Abstract: Molecular imprinting is a novel technology,which can specifically recognize the imprinted molecules. This paper provides an outlook for the history,principle and application of molecular imprinting technology(MIT). The preparation and characterization methods of molecular imprinting polymer (sMIPs)are reviewed. The factors for MIPs preparation, such as template molecule, functional monomer, crosslinker, solvent, porogen and reaction conditions, are mainly introduced. And the preparation methods, such as bulk polymerization, in situ polymerization, precipitation polymerization, suspension polymerization, surface molecular imprinting and electrochemical polymerization, are also introduced. In addition, the recent application of MIT in biology, analytical chemistry, natural product chemistry, medicine and organic synthesis are summarized.
