Abstract: A molecular imprinting-chemiluminescence method for the determination of maleic hydrazide was established, in which by using maleic hydrazide-imprinted polymer as recognition material and in the alkaline luminol-potassium periodate detection system. The MH imprinted polymer polymers was synthesized by hot-induced polymerization in methanol, using methacrylic acid as functional monomer and Ethylene glycol dimethacrylate as cross-linker respectively. The chemiluminescence intensity responded linearly to the concentration of maleic hydrazide within 3.5 x 10-4 - 5.0 x 10-2 mg/mL with a detection limit of 6.0 x 10-5 mg/mL. The relative standard deviation (RSD) for the determination of 1.0 μg/mL maleic hydrazide was 2.7% (n=11). The method has been applied to the determination of maleic hydrazide in samples, the results were in good agreement with those obtained by standard method and the recovery results were satisfactory. In addition, the possible mechanism was discussed as well.
