Abstract: Molecular imprinting is a technique that creates synthetic materials containing highly specific receptor sites that have an affinity for a target molecule, which has been widely used for small molecules imprinting. However, protein imprinting is remains still challenging. The discussion firstly discusses the difficulty in protein imprinting and also furnishes a comparative analysis of different approaches developed in the recent years, underlining their relative advantages and disadvantages and highlighting trends and possible future directions.
